California Regional Centers should always be the place to start when looking for access to all local state-funded disability services. There are 21 Centers across California run by the California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) and you can find the centre that covers your zip code using the DDS directory. Regional Centers provide vital services for adults with disabilities and will be responsible for intake, assessment and individual case management.
To access their services, they require an eligibility assessment to help tailor your needs. You must have lived with your disability since before you were 18 to be eligible for Regional Center services. Eligible disabilities include developmental and intellectual disabilities, autism, epilepsy, and cerebral palsy.
Regional Center Individual Program Plan (IPP)
Once it has been confirmed you’re eligible, the Regional Center will assign you to a service coordinator to talk about your individual needs and create an Individual Program Plan which is a legal agreement to identify your short and long term goals, required supports and services you need.
